Tannersville author will read, sign copies of her first book at mall

First-time author Karen de Balbian Verster of Tannersville will present a reading and sign copies of "Boob, A Story of Sex, Cancer & Stupidity" PublishAmerica, $21.95 from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Waldenbooks in the Stroud Mall, Route 611, Stroud Township.
Not unlike the author, the book's heroine, Kyra Copperfield, receives a possibly terminal Stage IV diagnosis. Kyra is captured by a serial killer who promises to delay her demise if she amuses him by telling stories about herself — Scheherazade meets Hannibal. Kyra figures it's a slow, painful death either way, but as she tells the story of her life, she regains the will to live and to escape.
