Helps Woman Heal the Scars of Spousal Abuse
By Karen Gardner, Assistant Family Editor, The Frederick News-Post
Debbie Thompson thought she was doing the right thing by staying in her marriage and raising her four children with her husband. At the same time, however, she was suffering from spousal abuse.
She wrote about that abuse in the book "Refuge," recently published by Publish America in Frederick. The book is a collection of poems about the abuse. They show the pain and despair she lived with for 12 years. After escaping it, she relived the experience for a while in her second marriage before she was able to break the abusive cycle.
