Young author merges worlds

ON A RECENT VISIT to Books 'n' Books, owner Sandra Hudgens stopped me by saying, "You are just the person I want to see!" You see, 19-year-old Los Medanos sophomore Nicole Payton had just come in with her recently published novel, and Hudgens thought Nicole would make a perfect subject for my column.
I met with her last week to find out more about a young woman who already has accomplished a feat many older people, and young ones, too, would love to achieve. Payton's sister was writing a book, and Nicole, 13 at the time, was bursting with ideas. Therefore, she decided to write her own book.
