Life Verses: A letter to a daughter grew into a rhyming, inspirational work

For 12 years, Dennis and Sherry Paul tried to have a baby. So they considered it a special gift when their daughter arrived on July 23, 1996. "It was quite an event when she was born," Dennis Paul said. As a recreation supervisor with the City of High Point, Sherry Paul is active in Special Olympics. Over the years, she and her husband became friends with a Special Olympics marathon runner named Billy Quick. In the months leading up to the birth, Quick had suggested many names that didn't strike a cord with them. When he suggested Alicia right before the birth, it did.
