Puppeteers turn novelists with 'Trek,' a time-travel journey to biblical days
The Modesto Bee, December 21, 2002, By AMY WHITE, BEE STAFF WRITER

Ray Newman at bottom and Bob Willey, both of Modesto, hold Muppet-style puppets from a puppet-show skit they wrote several years ago that they based their first book, 'Time Trek,' on. The book is about a scientist and his assistant who develop a time machine and travel back to biblical days.
JOAN BARNETT LEE/THE BEE

As longtime puppeteers, Ray Newman and Bob Willey of Modesto are used to being behind a curtain.

The two men have stepped into the limelight with the recent publication of their first book.

"Time Trek," a 148-page book published by PublishAmerica, tells the story of a professor and his assistant who use a time machine to travel back to biblical times.
