The author of 'Dark Clouds Don't Stay Forever' shared his family's story Monday afternoon in York city.

Sep 19, 2006 — In the prelude to Werner Neuburger's book, "Dark Clouds Don't Stay Forever," there is a picture of his father, Louis Neuburger, in a German Army uniform. During World War I, Louis was a volunteer who served on the Western Front with the 24th Jaeger Battalion.

Just before the start of World War II, the recognized German war hero, who suffered damage to his eardrum when a shell exploded near him in battle, fought again. But this time, he fought against the very people he had once sworn to protect.
