West Nyack author details his family's isolation, escape

WEST NYACK -- Storm troopers threw stones and shouted anti-Semitic slurs at the horse-drawn hearse leading the funeral procession in 1937 Battenburg, Germany.
Grieving for his deceased father, Werner Neuburger wondered why no one tried to stop the stinging blows and remarks, which had become increasingly prevalent since Adolf Hitler came to power.
