Did You
Know? ~ That the title of local author, R. Troyan Krause's
recently-published novel "The Works of the Flesh"
was inspired by a sermon he heard preached by our own Father
Wheeler? Mr. Krause was in the process of writing his novel
when his friends, Susan Suhr and Marina Viale, persuaded him
to come to church with them one Sunday. The text of Father
Wheeler's sermon that day happened to be Galatians 5:15-23,
where the works of the flesh are clearly listed. This text
counterpoints the more familiar passage from Galatians chapter
5:22-23 which lists the fruit of the Spirit. Mr. Krause's
novel is subtitled "A Novel and Lesson about Love".
The book, which will appeal to male and female readers alike,
was warmly reviewed after its publication in November 2002.
