Native Releases Book
Catasauqua Press, April 10, 2003
From the
mind of author Laura Klotz and the presses of PublishAmerica
comes the new book Saving the World in Your Spare Time: The
Pocket Guide to Effecting Positive Change. Anyone who has
ever wished for a comprehensive guide to making the world
a better place just had their wish come true.
The book
really is a pocket guide; most readers are able to finish
it in less than an hour. A workbook section helps the reader
determine his or her priorities in volunteering and where
their individual beliefs and talents can best be applied.
The author then provides her own list of ideas for projects
requiring different amounts of commitment, some are largescale
undertakings suitable for a group activity while others are
simple changes that one person can make to his or her lifestyle.
The book
also acknowledges the effect that our electronic age has had
on volunteering, and provides information for people to make
a difference via the Internet. Resource and contact information,
inspirational quotes, and some general advice round out this
handy guide for the would-be volunteer.
Saving the World in Your Spare Time is very conversational,
making it ideal for all age groups. The presentation of both
ideas and sources for further information make it helpful
to anyone planning a project for either adults or children.
Educators, Scout leaders, clergy, and community officials
will all find the book useful when organizing a group task;
individual citizens committed to a better tomorrow will also
benefit from perusing the suggestions.
The book
is currently only available directly from PublishAmerica;
it is expected to appear at Amazon.com and in bookstores soon.
Almost immediately it began to perform well in sales, more
than 30 copies were purchased from the company within the
first week of the book's availability. Those who have expressed
an interest in purchasing the book cite its thoroughness in
providing information, and many have remarked on its suitability
as a gift.
The author,
Laura Klotz, is a lifelong resident of the Lehigh Valley.
A graduate of Catasauqua High School and Lehigh Carbon Community
College, she works as a data processor for the federal government.
Her own volunteering history began as a candy striper at Muhlenberg
Hospital when she was in high school. Organizations to which
she currently belongs include the Defenders of Wildlife, the
National Holocaust Museum, and the Trexler-Lehigh Game Preserve.
This is her first book.
