Fanciful book expands on nursery rhyme character

When Mary-Anne Grosse Ivie was a teenager living on a small island in Singapore, she spent hours making magazines.

Various pages and covers were inspired by the popular teeny-bop magazine Tiger Beat. She even designated one spot to be the "Hollywood" page with the made-up gossip she created.

Grosse Ivie "commissioned" classmates to help her illustrate, as that wasn't her strong suit. It was her job to write. And type. And photocopy and staple.
