New African American mystery series debuts
WIM Magazine, November 28, 2005 by Angela Adams
Los Angeles, Ca. Murder Most Mystic introduces us to Shandra a psychic and psychologist, her brother Carlton and his partner Jamal who are police Detectives, Omar and Shelby who are television investigative reporters. Collectively with Tara, Carlton’s wife, they make up the Hotlanta Club, and have come together to solve several grisly murders. All the victims share one thing in common, but it takes a while before that truth is discovered. In the mean time the police force from two major cities and the Hotlanta Club are on a mission to find and to stop a killer or killers dubbed the Voodoo Serial Killer. The cast of suspects include a celebrity evangelist, and a bevy of Voodoo practitioners.
Interwoven in the mystery is the discovery of the characters backgrounds preparing the readers for future books with a cast of interesting and eclectic personalities. Roxann Latimer has written an exciting mystery that can be described as a cross between a detective story and a love story. She’s created some of the most endearing characters in recent fiction writing. The characters are funny, sad and full of the human drama of life. The dialogue is urban and full of wit and realism.
" Murder Most Mystic " isn't a very complex whodunit; in fact, we can sometimes guess who done it before the Hotlanta Club does, but Latimer has added a delightful and enduring creation of characters to the pantheon of famous detectives in fiction. The Hotlanta Club members rely on their instincts and each other. Latimer promises future stories to just as warm and even more exciting.
Murder Most Mystic is currently in production with Publish America and set for release in early 2006.
