Area Event Inspiration For Chapter
Florida Times-Union, 12/28/02 by Anne Sponholtz

For Jacksonville author Wayne Bryant, a parade in Keystone Heights was the inspiration for a chapter in his first book, The Last Train Home. In the book, Bryant's main character, Ted, stumbles across the July Fourth celebration quite by accident, and it becomes a defining moment in his life.

I was so taken aback when I first saw the parade six years ago that I was compelled to let the rest of America know that we had one community that still celebrated our Independence Day with the same spirit I remembered as a lad. It was like a Norman Rockwell painting back in time that I might have seen on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post," Bryant said of his decision to include the parade in his book.
