Local author publishes novel

Velda Brotherton of Winslow has had her novel “ Fly with the Mourning Dove” published by PublishAmerica.
The novel takes place in 1920 and follows 6-yearold Edna as she accompanies her parents, including her father who has tuberculosis, to a 640-acre homestead in New Mexico. The story centers on the family’s fight to remain together in a battle against the land and disease.
